Students Honored for Achievements
The Wayne Highlands School Board honored a trio of seniors during the regular November meeting.
Emily Chee, daughter of Edward and Felicity Chee of Bethany, is in the top five percent of her class. She has been involved in various athletic activities that include junior varsity and varsity softball, where she was awarded the Honesdale Varsity Softball Gold Glove Award.
She also received the Scholastic Arts Honorable Mention, is a member of the honor roll and National Honor Society.
Emily plans to pursue a career as an occupational therapist.
Courtney Varcoe, daughter of Kevin and Barbara Varcoe of Honesdale, is also in the top five percent of her class. She was a member of the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity girls basketball teams.
Courtney earned a varsity letter and served as team captain.
She participated in the Marywood Math Contest and the American Mathematics Contest. Courtney is also
a member of Student Council, is on the honor roll and is a member of the National Honor Society. Courtney plans to attend a four-year university majoring in nursing.
Tessa Vendetti is the daughter of Francene Vendetti of Honesdale. In the top five percent of her class, she is on the honor roll and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Tessa has also participated in the American Mathematics Contest and the Math Madness Online Competition.
She has participated in Wayne/Pike County Band, Marywood Senior Wind Band Celebration, the Marywood University
Wind Symphony, regional band and orchestra, regional band, district band and orchestra and the Northeastern Youth Wind Ensemble.
Tessa was also named a WVIA Artist of the Week and was a member of the Reading Competition Team. She plans to attend Penn State University to major in music education.
